Monday, May 29th, 2006

KMWorld Logo KMWorld issued an article on our white paper on open source document management already in April. What Seth and I weren't aware of is that there is a printed magazine that they issue where we were actually on the title page.

iPod+Nike

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

Nike's and Apple's latest corporation delivers today's Web 2.0 App of the Day: Nike+

Nike+iPodThe Nike+iPod Sport Kit is two pieces of hardware to record your running and to receive this information on your iPod (nano). You can then sync your work out data to iTunes and upload to nikeplus.com. This connects you to the global Nike+ community. You can store your runs online, set goals for yourself, and challenge your friends.

All nicely integrated and lots of gimmics around you can spend money on. :)

progressAccording to Apple's website, the iTunes Music Store will "soon" be stocking up on Continuous Workout Mixes:

Workout routines developed for use with Nike+iPod time- or distance-based workouts. Each routine offers coaching, motivational, and training tips over a continuous mix of music.

Sport iMixes:

Professionally selected playlists designed to motivate you through the most demanding workouts.

Athlete Inspirations:

Playlists chosen and introduced by top athletes.

and Video and Audio Podcasts:

Shows featuring the most dynamic personalities in the sporting world.

According to an interview with Steve in today's USA Today it was quite a challenge to bring together the two companies ideas.

A self-described "fair-weather runner," Jobs hasn't tried the product. But seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong, a Nike celebrity endorser, has.

Armstrong is in training for the New York City Marathon. He ran a route with the Nike+iPod, then drove it in his car to test accuracy: It clocked in at 5.2 miles on the Nano; the car route came in at 5.3 miles, he says. "When you run you cut some corners. I was pretty surprised for it to be that accurate." You can use the kit out of the box or calibrate it.

The $29 kit will be available within 60 days at Apple stores and shops where Nike footwear is sold. "It's a really inexpensive accessory for two premium-priced products," says Ross Rubin of the NPD Group research firm.

Of course, you'll have to spend at least $149 for the Nano and $100 for the shoes. Six other iPod-ready Nike shoe models are coming.
